SUMMER “DROP IN” CLASSES

JULY CLASSES AT SDC

The Ballet A Intensive will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July from 6-7:45 pm

The Advanced Ballet Intensive will start as scheduled  July 17 from 10-3:30 pm for two weeks.

The Drop-In class schedule at SDC has now been simplified throughout July: 

1.   Shari will teach a mixed intermediate and advanced ballet class from 7:15-8:45pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.  
2.  On Thursdays, we will have modern from 6-7:15 and partnering or rep from 7:15 to 8:30.  
3.  Also on Thursdays, Warkenda will be teaching Floor Barre from 7:45 to 9:00 pm.  
4.  On Saturdays, there is an Adult Ballet class from 9:00am to 10:30am.  All the classes mentioned in this paragraph are drop-in classes, meaning no registration is required.  Payment is $10 per class and given to the teacher directly.
5.  As always, there are teachers available for private classes as well.

SUMMER DANCE INTENSIVES

See all our selection for this summer below!  The following classes are considered Dance Intensives and require advance registration and payment:The purpose of all summer intensives is to fast-forward dance technique, and brush up on vital dance skills.  All courses belwo are subject to cancellation if registration requirements are not met.


CREATIVE MOVEMENT FUN WEEKS

This class is intended for children ages 3-5 who are eager to dance in a friendly, caring environment and will introduce stretching as well as all early dance skills, and include a a simple, fun mini-craft.  Parents may stay in the hallway during class time. Faculty will be led by Warkenda Williams Casey and will include teen dance assistants. 

July Creative Movement Week July 17-22 Mondays-Fridays 10:00 am to 11:00 am   Cost:  $75

PRE-BALLET FUN WEEKS

Recommended for focused children ages 5-7,  boys and girls who are eager to learn the structured basis for movement called ballet are welcomed into our friendly caring studios.  Instruction will include stretching, ballet class exercises, and beginning character dance (formalized folk dance).  A character dance costume element is included in the price of the classes.Faculty will be led by Warkenda Williams Casey and will include teen dance assistants. 

July Pre-Ballet Week July 17-22 Mondays-Fridays 11:30 am -1:00pm  Cost:  $100

Young Dancers Summer Evening Workshop (BALLET A)

Recommended for focused children ages 8-12.  Students will delve into techniques of classical ballet followed by an energetic class in modern dance or jazz .  Faculty will be include Warkenda Williams Casey, Lavon Holland, Travis Love and others.  This workshop will allow the dancers to progress and improve their dance technique in several styles.

June 12 through July 20 Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 pm -7:45pm  Cost:  $200 (6 weeks) or $130 (3 consecutive weeks) Includes Classical Ballet, Jazz and Modern Dance

Intermediate Ballet Intensive (Ballet BC)

This intensive is based on classical ballet technique and is planned to bring each dancer to a higher level of work and inspiration with ballet.  Ballet Intensive Faculty will include Shari Vegso, Travis Love, Willow Williams and other outstanding guests. Classes will include pointe for those who are ready, as well as ballet stretch and conditioning, floor barre, classical variations from well-known choreographers, and classes focused on specific elements of ballet such as port de bras, epaulment, petite and grand allegro, turns and auditioning skills. Bring a brown bag lunch daily.  Levels will be B1, B2, and C1 (Intermediate- Intermediate/Advanced). Need more dance?  Evening "Drop-In" classes will focus on modern during this ballet intensive and can be taken as an adjunct to the intensive.

July 3rd-14th Mondays-Fridays 10 am to 3:30 pm  Cost:  $400 (2 weeks)  $300 (1st week onlyThe classes are progressive therefore the second week cannot be taken as a standalone week. Note that classes will be held every day of the first week, including Tuesday July 4th.

Advanced & High Intermediate Ballet Intensive (Ballet CDE)

This intensive is based on classical ballet technique and is planned to bring each dancer to a higher level of work with ballet.  Levels will be C2, C3, D and E (High Intermediate through Advanced Ballet).   Ballet Intensive Faculty will include Shari Vegso, Travis Love, Deborah Engerman, Willow Williams and other outstanding guests.  Classes will include ballet stretch and conditioning, full classes focused on specific elements of classical and contemporary ballet and classes focused on musicality and learning enchainments and variaitions.   Bring a brown bag lunch daily.  During this intensive, the faculty will assess and endeavor to improve each individual dancer.   At times faculty may work privately with dancers outside of group classes to focus on specific skills.  Specific elements to be covered include overall balance, turns, extensions--in particular arabeques--as well as fluidity and strength of pointe work, variations and auditioning skills.  Consider taking a dinner break and then returning to the studio.  Evening "Drop-in" classes will focus on modern dance during this ballet intensive and can be taken as an adjunct to the Ballet Intensive.

July 17th-28th Mondays-Fridays 10:00 am to 3:30 pm  Cost:  $400 (2 weeks)  $300 (1st week only) SDC alumni returning from college dance programs are invited to participate free of charge in the advanced program, however please do register online for our records. The classes in this intensive are progressive therefore the second week cannot be taken as a standalone week.
